Ovaries are the structure where body produces as well as matures eggs. They are also responsible for the production of a couple of hormones. Causes
Exact cause of the formation of ovarian cysts is still unknown. Ovarian cysts generally develop as a result of your menstrual and hormonal cycle. These functional cysts sometimes develop in the ovaries due to abnormal growth of cells and they are not related to the menstrual cycle. These are called pathological cysts. Its risk factors are,

Signs and Symptoms
Usually, ovarian cysts do not come with alarming signs. However, if they start to grow, many complications may appear, such as:
• Abdominal bloating or swelling • Breast tenderness • Irritable bowel movements • Pain in the pelvic area before or during the menstrual cycle • Painful intercourse • Pain in the lower back or thighs • Nausea and vomiting.
According to Ayurveda, cysts come in the classification of Kaphaj Granthi or defective menstrual cycles. In Ayurveda, Granthi means hard mass or cysts. As Ayurveda considers the disease to be an occurrence of doshas imbalance, cysts are the result of aggravation of Kapha, along with Pitta and Vata doshas. The channels and tissues associated with ovarian cysts are that of menstruation, and tissues, which creates favorable conditions for the ovarian cysts to grow. The increased impurities and toxins in such dhatus indicate too many cysts. Stress and lack of physical activity also contribute to the imbalance of doshas.
